The June 2009 Nursing Licensure Examinations (NLE) results will soon come out and become available for viewing to those interested in getting hold of the results. More information would soon be available but for now let’s talk about SEO.

It’s a Pinoy SEO thing

Definitely not a crime, but the trend seems to be that Filipino bloggers make it a habit of posting license exam results on their personal blogs or journals both as a means of getting more search engine traffic as well as providing the Filipino public with the basic information they would need. Filipino SEO professionals and enthusiasts would absolutely grab hold of the opportunity not only due to the traffic such a post can conjure but mainly with the sense of achievement they would get if their post happen to end up on top of Google’s search results for a particular topic such as the Nursing Licensure Examinations (NLE) results.

Slow-and-steady vs Rapid-and-Disastrous SEO

Archon Digital have long since observed and reviewed such posting trends among Pinoys but have never exactly jumped in on the bandwagon mainly due to time constraints. Most of the time the work schedule doesn’t offer the luxury of five minutes to sit down and write a post in time for such a trend. Another reason is the approach has always been one of caution as there has always been a part of Archon Digital that refuses to sensationalize or take advantage of other people’s plight by capitalizing on their misery. That is the main reason Archon Digital has not joined any of the Hayden Kho – Katrina Halili sex scandal video SEO bandwagon (by the way, off the record.. Fμ¢k that sick bastard for what he’s done, may he pay dearly for his deeds) or the other sensationalized events in the Philippine’s politically-spiced-pop-culture environment.

Archon Digital would always stand by what it has written for as long as it is factual and does not step on other citizen’s or organization’s rights.

Trending – Is it Worth It?

A plethora of subjects can be written if you base on the current trends in Google. Subjects ranging lately from Michael Jackson’s death, michael jackson funeral, michael jackson autopsy results, michael jackson autopsy photos (may he rest-in-peace) and even to politically flavoured ones like Cap and Trade, Cap and Trade bill, or who voted for Cap and Trade, Cap and Trade Congress, Cap and Trade vote in the U.S. Congress. Even the local news such as anti-Con-As and with our belover professor Randy David going after the much-vilified Gloriath are hot subjects Pinoy bloggers can write about.

Then again, writing for the sake of writing to go along with trends seems pointless at times if not for getting some SEO juice. Which puts us bloggers in a spot, as we find ourselves in a situation to decide if we are writing for a purpose or are we writing just for the sake of trending and SEO.

Imagine if that was you or your loved one on the subject of Google Trends, what would you do? Or how would you react?

SEO for SEO’s sake, are there moral bounds being crossed by bloggers? are we all in for a ride like the little firefly playing with the lamp that is Google?

USS John McCain to Intercept North Korean Ship

Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer, USS John S. McCain (DDG 56) is set to intercept the North Korean flagged ship as it leaves the Chinese coast. The military has been tracking the vessel for the past few days since it left a North Korean port last Wednesday according to a senior U.S. military source.

Kang Nam, which the military has been tracking since its departure, could be carrying weaponry, missile parts or nuclear materials, a direct violation of U.N. Resolution 1874, which put sanctions in place against Pyongyang. The order to inderdict has not been given at this moment but the destroyer is on orders to position itself for such action.

The USS John S. McCain (DDG 56) is named after John S. McCain, Jr. and John S. McCain, Sr., both Admirals in the United States Navy. The two are respectively the father and grandfather of John S. McCain III, U.S. Senator representing Arizona and former Naval aviator Captain who endured five and a half years as a POW in the Vietnam War.

Act of War – North Korea Missile Targeting Hawaii

The United States reportedly deployed anti-missile defenses around Hawaii as intelligence reports revealed that North Korea is aiming its most advanced ballistic missile toward the U.S. islands this coming July which will add to an already high tension situation around the region.

U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates stated that additional defenses in the vicinity of Hawaii composes a ground-based mobile missile system and a radar system and is well capable of shooting down any incoming hostile projectiles such as missiles in mid air.

“Without telegraphing what we will do, I would just say … we are in a good position, should it become necessary, to protect Americans and American territory,” Gates was quoted saying to reporters in Washington on Thursday.

North Korean Taepodong 2 Missile

Also, a report in a Japanese newspaper said North Korea is getting ready to test-fire its Taepodong-2 in the direction of Hawaii during the Fourth of July Independence Day celebrations. Pyongyang has in fact test-fired a similar long-range missile on July 4 three years ago, but failed within seconds of liftoff. The missile in question in North Korea is believed to be a Taepodong-2 with a range of up to 4,000 miles (6,500 kilometers), and would be launched from North Korea’s Tongchang-ri site on the northwestern coastal region sometime around July 4, according to the Yomiuri newspaper.

Just received an e-mail from Google Analytics inviting me to try out Google Adwords and avial of a PhP 1,000 coupon.

Adwords is Google’s flagship contextual advertising product and main source of its multi-billion dollar revenue which was estimated to be around $21 billion in 2008. The program offers pay-per-click (PPC) advertising, and site-targeted advertising for both text and banner ads.

iPhone’s Activation Server Down

I have a friend that wanted their iPhone updated and I walked her through the installation remotely as she’s in London and had to wait for the servers which I presume were all overloaded due to all the hype surrounding the release date of the 3.0 update. The logmein session I was running with her was going on for more than three hours and when I finally decided to call it quits, the update worked, phew…

It took us six tries before we successfully updated the iPhone but she was happy that everything was all working fine now. That was when we received reports from other people we know that the iPhone activation server was showing as temporarily unavailable or down due to the overload probably by having millions trying to download all at the same time.

Letterman Apologizes to Sarah Palin, Daughters and Family

David Letterman apologized on air this June 15th to Sarah Palin her daughters and the rest of their family in an effort to hopefully end the controversy surrounding the joke that he said a few days ago on his show regarding the Alaska governor’s daughter. The entire situation has gone from coarse joke to a national campaign by conservatives to hold Letterman responsible and account for his wrong deeds. The newly formed advocacy group firedavidletterman.com has called for Letterman to be fired from CBS even went as far as staging a rally in front of Ed Sullivan Theatre where the Lateshow is taped.

A writer for the Late Show with David Letterman carries a "Fire Letterman" sign onto the stage on June 16, 2009 as dozens of people gathered outside the studio demanding the host be fired.

The longtime Lateshow host started his show with this quip aimed at the ongoing Fire David Letterman rally outside Ed Sulivan Theatre.

“Now when I call your name, please come forward and pick up your apology. [Laughter, applause] I wanna get through this as quickly as possibly so you folks can get to the ‘Fire Dave Rally.’ [Cheering] It’s nice that people hate me who are no longer just part of my immediate family. My son, he’s telling everybody at school that his father is Conan!”

His apology was straighforward and did not point to any other party and after that the show went on and was as hilarious as ever.

“I would like to apologize, especially to the two daughters involved, Bristol and Willow, and also to the governor and her family and everybody else who was outraged by the joke. I’m sorry about it and I’ll try to do better in the future.”

He also stated that his intent was indeed meaningles nevertheless the perception was the one that caused public outrage and that he is taking full responsibility for his actions.

Fire David Letterman Rally in front of Ed Sullivan Theatre

Anti David Letterman supporters will rally tomorrow (June 16, 2009) in front of the Ed Sullivan where the Lateshow is being taped as a statement against the jokes made by David Letterman against Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and her daughters.

It would seem that Lateshow host David Letterman’s jokes about Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s daughters is not just about to die a natural death anytime soon. A website created by conservative author Michael Patrick Leahy, firedavidletterman.com, is spreading like wildfire accross the internet and is seen as being used by the right wing conservatives as a means to get back on David Letterman who is a democrat and has, for the longest time, been notorious for his jokes against Republicans.

These conservatives have taken the situation to an entirely new level and is now calling for a boycott of anything related to the Lateshow. They aim to hit them where it hurts by creating all this publicity against the Lateshow’s host to pressure the advertisers to pull out from their regular advertisment slots. As of this moment, public relations people from the company’s identified are announcing either they intend or have already pulled out advertising on the CBS website and on the show itself.

Masters of Spin

Though the jokes were done in poor taste, the entire situation is has been manipulated in a way to reflect the worst in David Letterman. The entire fiasco has become more of a partisan thing than a crusade against joking about young teens being subject of a sexual assault. These masters of spin are all behind the theatrics and puppetry of the entire show and the masses are all in it for a ride.

We can only sit back and watch as the events unfold and see if the puppet masters will have their way.
