Theme Development: Where It All Began

The original plan was to learn how to develop Wordpress themes and distribute them for free.
After four years of busy work schedules, excuses and lack of focus, the time has come for Archon Digital to revisit the idea and take action.

Theme Development: Where It All Began

This is the main goal for the next three months on Archon Digital, to publish a WordPress theme for public consumption.

Here is a checklist of what I plan to include in this project and my progress in learning and applying these capabilities:

  • theme options panel – (30%) I am still learning how to create an option panel for the theme
  • fully widgetized layout – (100%) It turned out to be pretty easy to do and I actually overdone it on my previous theme as I made almost every part of the site widgetized.
  • custom fields - (100%) Most of my other projects involved extensive use of custom fields and the needed conditional tags for its implementation.
  • custom write panel - (20%) Just started to learn how this can be done without haing to install an external plugin.

In three months time we will see how this all turns out.

Wish me luck guys!
