I still prefer Photoshop and wait or help to actually make it work on Ubuntu.

Adobe should start making an Ubuntu release for Photoshop and also for the rest of their Creative Suite applications.

I tried switching to Ubuntu – but it was actually a lot harder than I thought it would’ve been. Either way, my Windows Withdrawal symptoms were starting to show, so I went back.

Ubuntu’s still on my VPC though : )

And as for an alternative to Gimp…what about Gimpshop? I heard it organizes Gimp a lot more similarly to Photoshop – although I haven’t tried it myself, I thought it’d be interesting to mention.

Ubuntu is really great! It now runs on one my new VPS, where I will soon transfer this site, hopefully within the month.

Switching to Ubuntu is something a lot of Windows users should consider.

Imagine never having to buy a buggy OS that gets updated to be more buggy.

Great for you, I recently had an old laptop that kept giving me fits. I kept getting “there is a problem with the cooling system” and “shut down now”. It had windows xp with all the latest updates. Funny thing is I ran diagnostics and the temp was no where near the levels that would cause a melt down. I installed Ubuntu as a dual boot and never got the message at all. Now it is strictly an Ubuntu laptop, Windows removed.

hehe.. yepz, PS and GIMP are worlds apart. I don’t have Photoshop at work, so I really, really dread image-editing tasks (because then I will have to work on GIMP)..
